On 16 November Mayor Jules Pipe of Hackney and Mayor John Biggs of Tower Hamlets spoke their minds at our packed out debate on the Goodsyard. Chaired by journalist Kirsty Styles it also featured Nicholas Boys Smith of Create Streets and John Elledge of City Metric. However a chair remained empty as the developers declined to send anyone to defend their scheme.
Headlines from the debate included: Alternative Viability Figures Point to 49% Affordable Housing Possible (instead of the 10% proposed) - The People We Need to Run London Can't Afford a £450,000 property - Affordable Homes Should Be Built On Golf Courses - Pension Funds Make Better Property Developers - Ruination of a Fantastic Environment
