We've been informed by Hackney Planning that the public consultation for the Goodsyard is set to commence next week. Details are below.
And thus begins the most important part of our campaign: YOUR FEEDBACK. In the coming days we will begin to circulate details of and commentary on the plans. We'll circulate petitions for you to join and details on how to provide your feedback directly to the councils and the Mayor.
This is a critical campaign to keep this part of London unique, vibrant and livable. Simply put, the proposals are not fit for purpose.
Please get your friends and colleagues to sign up for our newsletter here, and follow us on Twitter at @morelightpower, and let us know how we're doing. Contact us any time at [email protected].
Remember, if you don't speak up you can't be heard!
Sincerely,
The More Light, More Power Campaign
From Hackney Council:
"As you may be aware, a part outline and part detailed planning application has been submitted to both Tower Hamlets and Hackney Councils. The applications are valid, following receipt of all the required information.
The formal public consultation will commence on 20 October.
The outline planning application reference number is PA/14/02011. The documents are being uploaded and should be available to view online in the upcoming days.
Briefly the application proposes redevelopment to include 1,464 residential units, approximately 800 of which would be in Tower Hamlets, 52,991 sqm of business space, retail, financial and professional services, restaurants and cafes and hot food takeaways (up to 18,229 sqm), plus community and leisure uses.
The proposals also include creation of a new public open space on top of the Braithwaite Viaduct and conversion of the arches below the viaduct to accommodate some of the commercial floor space described above. As you may know some of the arches are grade II listed and there is a parallel application for listed building consent. The listed building reference is PA/14/02096.
The application is for outline planning permission which assesses more the principles of the development. For that reason the housing mix is unknown at this stage. Within LBTH the applicant is seeking up to 95,619 m² (GIA) of residential use (Class C3)."
